The Chicagospel album from hip-hop artists and writers Rufus Sims and IamGawd gives you a new-school feeling with an old-school twist. With songs like “Decent” gaining traction on local airwaves and “Supervillians” leading the charge with its recent video release, the project is making its presence known.
And let’s talk about that video, because this was no ordinary video drop.
Rufus Sims and IamGawd teamed up with Chicago heavy hitters Jae Haze, Vic Spencer, Panamera P, and Philmore Greene to deliver an unmistakable single accompanied by what people are calling a short cinematic film for a music video, directed and edited by Clark Airlines. The entire project is presented by The 17th Cipher.
The “Supervillians” music video premiere was held October 2, 2026, in downtown Chicago, and BLNT News had the honor of being in attendance.
The event was jam-packed with supporters, industry professionals, and several media outlets covering the premiere. The energy surrounding the release matched the scale of the project itself.
And the video?
It’ll have you smiling, laughing, jumping with scared excitement, and possibly wanting to take your place among the six Supervillians.
From the record to the visuals, to the vinyls, to the premiere itself, Supervillians is an immaculate project and rollout, and another reminder of what independent Chicago music can look like when the music, presentation, collaboration, and execution all meet.
“Supervillians” is now streaming on YouTube via The 17th Cipher.
